THE AI SHOPPING AGENT ERA

Muse, Dots and
your store.

AI shopping agents such as Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s Dots browse and compare stores on behalf of shoppers; some can also complete purchases. Here is how Commerco meets them.

THREE WAYS AGENTS ARRIVE

Catalog, browser,
or a person who clicked.

01

Through a catalog

Agent-facing catalog (MCP, UCP catalog, product feed): coming.

02

In a browser

Some agents open your pages in their own browser. In-browser agent tools (WebMCP): coming. Either way, agent visits are separated from your measurement: they never enter the control group.

03

A shopper who clicked

Many visits from AI tools are people who clicked a link in a chat. They are shoppers like any other: the on-site agent welcomes them, and your reports show AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and others) as their own traffic source.

YOUR RULES

The same honesty
for people and agents.

Same answers, same limits

Agents get the same answers your shoppers get. The agent never makes up a price or a stock level — answers that cannot be backed by your store data are blocked.

Checkout stays on your store

Agents do not check out through Commerco. Purchases happen on your store, with your checkout and your policies.

Agent orders are counted separately

Orders placed by or through AI agents are counted in their own bucket, so they never inflate or hide the assistant’s effect on people.

Adoption is up to each agent

Which agents connect to your store’s channels, and when, depends on those agents.

SHOPIFY AND EVERYONE ELSE

Two honest halves.

On Shopify, the agent-facing layer belongs to Shopify itself (its Catalog, UCP and Knowledge Base). There, Commerco covers the shopper side and keeps AI agent visits out of your measurement; in-browser agent tools are coming. Off Shopify, an agent-facing catalog from Commerco is coming.
